Manta bridge moves assets to and from Manta Pacific

The manta bridge moves supported assets between Ethereum and Manta Pacific, Manta Network’s Ethereum layer 2, where transactions can interact with apps on that network. The route also works in reverse, but a withdrawal can take longer because it must pass through the rollup’s exit process.

For many users, the manta bridge is a way to put ETH or another supported token on Pacific and send it back later. The key choice is whether the token and direction you need are available on the bridge. A token with the same name on another network may be a different asset.

What does the manta bridge move?

The native route moves ETH and supported Ethereum tokens between Ethereum and Manta Pacific. It does not move every token from every network. Check the asset and both networks shown in the bridge before starting.

Bridging changes where an asset is recorded. A deposit sends the token through the Ethereum-side bridge contracts, and the corresponding balance becomes available on Pacific after the transaction is processed. This is different from swapping: a bridge transfer aims to move the same asset across networks, while a swap trades one asset for another.

Pacific uses ETH to pay transaction fees. A deposit therefore needs enough ETH on Ethereum for the transfer, and users should keep some ETH on Pacific for transactions after it arrives.

How do you move assets to Manta Pacific?

Choose Ethereum as the source and Pacific as the destination, then select a supported token and enter an amount. Connect a wallet, review the route, and approve the token if the wallet asks for permission to spend it. Then sign the deposit transaction.

Token approval and deposit are separate wallet actions. Approval lets the bridge contract use the selected token up to the amount allowed; the deposit sends the transfer. Read both wallet prompts and confirm the destination before signing. After the deposit is processed, check the receiving wallet on Pacific and leave enough ETH there for app fees.

Costs vary with network activity. The Ethereum transaction can be costly when its gas fees are high, and a small transfer can lose more of its value to that fixed cost than a larger one. Check the estimated fee in your wallet before sending.

Why can withdrawals take longer?

A withdrawal starts on Pacific and returns funds to Ethereum. The native route follows rollup withdrawal rules: a challenge period gives the network time to dispute an invalid state update before the Ethereum-side funds are released. Manta Network has described a three-day challenge period for native withdrawals; any faster finality option depends on what the bridge currently offers for that transaction.

Plan for the wait before moving funds to Pacific if you may need them back quickly. The bridge interface should show the withdrawal’s status and any remaining step, such as claiming funds on Ethereum. You may also need ETH on Pacific to start the withdrawal and ETH on Ethereum to pay for the final claim.

In short, the manta bridge suits a direct move between Ethereum and Pacific when the token is supported and you can cover fees on both networks. Deposits are usually the simpler leg; the return route may require more time and an extra claim.
